Most buyers’ agents claim staging helps their clients imagine living within a house. A third of them say it could even boost the home’s value between 1 to 10 percent compared to comparable properties that aren’t staged in accordance with the National Association of REALTORS(r)’ 2023 profile of home staging.

Regina Leahy, founder of the Connecticut-based staging company Staged(link is external), shows what transformative possibilities are available in crucial areas of a house, such as white-painted interiors, clearing clutter while rearranging layouts, and adding the correct decorative elements.

A case in point: The listing price of a recently sold property Leahy staged went up from $699,000 to $772,000 after she had worked to clean the house. The home she staged received numerous offers in the first week it was advertised and then was sold at $805,000.

Look at these before and post photos from your portfolio of Leahy to get an idea of the difference that home staging can have on your home.

“While there may be little changes to prices from one quarter to the next, the long-term perspective is that housing has brought great wealth accumulation for homeowners,” even those who purchased within the last two years Yun said. In addition, home prices remain higher than they were the year before in virtually all U.S. markets. NAR has predicted that home prices to increase by 2.6 percent by 2024.
